Today I’m going to be doing a blog post about ibs as i feel its not highlighted and people who have the disorder are scared to talk about it which makes it one of the least disorders known about in the public eye .
About 2weeks ago i went to see my doctor for test results and was told i have ibs which there and then i didn’t no what it was and if i was going to live long i no that sounds funny thats what went through my brain .I was acting like the world had ended i was scared didn’t want to talk to anyone pushed all my friends away until i went back to the doctor and told her i didn’t have a clue what ibs was and what i had to do to help make it better
She told me i wasn’t going to die from ibs it was a disorder of the bowel and that i needed to go home and test out what foods was setting my ibs symptoms off and write them down in a day to day book and from that i can see what i should and shouldnt be eating .
I went of the BUSCOPAN website to see if they has anything on there to help me understand the disorder and they did fact sheets useful mobile app and much more .
One thing thats helps me from that site the MANAGING IBS booklet there is loads of people in it talking about there ibs and how it makes them feel its a great booklet I’m going to add a few quotes that stood out from the booklet .
1. Try not to be ashamed about discussing your particularly with you doctor
they will have heard far worse then anything you can tell them and the more
info you can give them the better they will be able to help you .
2.explain how it makes you feel rather then what it does to your body
physically .If they know the psychological affects it has on you then
they are more likely to want to listen and find out how they can help .
3. There are loads of people thats suffer with ibs and it really is so common .
Be open and share your experiences – most people have probably gone
through something similar at some point in there lives so its unlikely to be
shocking and talking about it can really help .
4. Look upon the gut as an alarm signal .If it goes off ,slow down and relax
don’t push through your symptoms you should take a break instead -catch
up with friends walk the dog or do something you enjoy doing .
What great quotes that will help me and hopeful you guys that read them
I bet now after reading down to here your wondering what the symptoms of ibs are well i have listed them below .
The symptoms of IBS are usually worse after eating and tend to come and go in bouts.
Most people have a flare-up of symptoms that lasts two to four days. After this time, the symptoms usually improve but do not disappear completely.
The most common symptoms of IBS are:
abdominal pain and cramping – often relieved by emptying your bowels
a change in your bowel habits – such as diarrhoea, constipation, or sometimes both
bloating and swelling of your abdomen
excessive wind (flatulence)
an urgent need to go to the toilet
a feeling that you need to open your bowels even if you have just been to the toilet
a feeling you have not fully emptied your bowels
passing mucus from your bottom
Due to the embarrassment, pain and discomfort of IBS, many people with the condition also have feelings of depression and anxiety.

There are three main patterns of bowel symptoms in IBS. They are:
IBS with diarrhoea – when you have repeated bouts of diarrhoea
IBS with constipation – when you have repeated bouts of constipation
IBS mixed – when you have repeated bouts of diarrhoea and constipation
These patterns are not set in stone. You can switch from one to another and go for long periods with few or no symptoms at all.
Find out about the foods and drinks that can trigger the symptoms of IBS.
